School council

School Council:

We have had a School Council for several years now. Elections are held every year, in September, to elect two representatives, a boy and a girl, from each class from Y1 to Y6.

The pupil councillors elect a chair and vice chair person, a secretary and treasurer who organise and run half termly meetings throughout the year. They are supported by a link teacher. Our link governor is also invited to attend meetings.

Key Stage One pupils have their own Key Stage One Council meetings and when appropriate send representatives to the Whole School Council meetings.

Class representatives, supported by their class teachers when necessary, lead Class Council meetings when they share information and ask for suggestions and ideas to make sure all children are given the opportunity to have their views listened to.

 Our overall aims are to:

·         Involve all pupils in decision making in order to make Templars’ an even happier, healthier, safer and more successful school.

·         To give KS2 pupils an insight into how organisations, cities and countries are run by modelling and enabling them to participate in a democratic  process.
